Luis Melgar (Madrid, 1980) is a diplomat, currently the first secretary of the Spanish Embassy in Venezuela. Between August 2013 and July 2016, he was second in command of the Spanish Embassy in Equatorial Guinea. He has been deputy director general of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and professor at the Instituto Universitario Ortega y Gasset and at the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas. He is also the author of numerous children’s books and youth books, thematic encyclopedias and reference books and Los bancos estáis locos (Peninsula, 2017), a chronicle of his three years as a diplomat in Equatorial Guinea.
